Are You Thinking Critically Enough?
Last time I dropped a message to you, I challenged you to learn more about your inner plumb line. Call these values your North Stars or your plumb line; the idea is to allow them to be guiding principles – to shine bright within your actions. Align as many behaviors with them as you possibly can. Here’s the next challenge – the real deal folks. We now must start using all our resources and especially our big, beautiful head brains better.
Let’s talk about where we get our information from.
How are we sourcing the information that fills our minds and souls? Does this information provide us with more facts and truth?
In our present situation, we have to be aware and refer to outside input from trusted sources. We have to read! We have think for ourselves! We need to use critical logic and partner it with our innate spidy-sense to stay on track.
We cannot rely on 3rd party information. We cannot live off of memes. We cannot glance over headlines and fill in the spaces with conjecture.
How do we do that? We as a group can suggest news and information sources that are reliable.
So I’ll go first.
When trying to understand better the large and looming issues facing the world today, I turn to the following sources regularly:

Heather Cox Richardson (we also subscribe to her Substack)
Please get these linked to sources for each of the items mentioned above.
We’re looking for sources that give us an informed viewpoint on particular topics. Nobody is expected to stay on top of every issue every day. But we have to get to the basics of issues without spin and talking points.
True Patriots (aka Inspired Badasses) read. They think critically. They are informed by facts. So your challenge for the next two weeks is to clean up your act and only listen to news and information sources that are free from:
- Misinformation
- Disinformation
- Spin
- Talking Points
We are freeing ourselves from hearing things secondhand and believing them. We are freeing ourselves from scrolling memes and the latest news flash.
Are you up for this? This is one way to head into the storm of news and banter.
Here’s what to do:
1 – Review some of the news sources I’ve mentioned above.
2 – Vet your sources and send them to us to review so we, as a collective, can use them as a reference.
3 – Share suggestions on how you discern fact from fiction as well so our Inspired Badass Buffalo Gang can learn from one another.
