After the election, I had to take a knee—a pause.
Like many of you, I was shattered by what felt lost, broken, destroyed and profoundly confusing. My first response was to act on research I have done regarding what other country I might need to move to, in order to feel safe again. However, if you know me well, you know I didn’t act on that knee-jerk reaction of fear. I sat in the dense reality of what had happened and I stayed open to hear and find my truth. The kind of inner truth that comes with a clear, strong voice. That clarity channeled its way to me and spoke boldly to my heart and mind: This moment is about what hasn’t yet been built, established, or reimagined. This moment is about observing what is missing.
In this clarity, I could see with new eyes that this horribly divided state of our nation is an opportunity – a chance to create what we seek most deeply in our hearts. And it starts by asking: What is mine? What is mine to lean into, to strengthen, and to grow?
When our hearts break open, that’s when a difficult experience can reveal the resilient part of us that keeps beating life into our bodies. Let’s honor the moment and the heartbreak. We’re headed for bumpy times, stormy times. Let’s use this moment to start to build what has yet to be built. Let’s do so by taking a lesson from the buffalo. They head directly into a storm, because they know the storm passes quicker that way.
So, how willing are you to be a buffalo?
How willing are you to discover what’s yours to build right now? Leave a comment or email me at info@soulsalt.com —I’d love to hear what’s on your mind and in your heart.
